The Work of the Monastery and the Nuns

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Trikoukkiotissa was founded in the 11th century and is one of the oldest and most sacred monasteries in Cyprus. Its name is attributed, according to the prevailing version, to the trikoukkia – a type of plant that thrived in the area.

The miraculous icon of Panagia Trikoukkiotissa, which is kept in the monastery, holds a special place in the ecclesiastical history of Cyprus. According to tradition, the icon was painted by the Evangelist and Apostle Luke himself, giving the monastery a special spiritual value and making it a place of prayer, faith and pilgrimage for thousands of believers.

The Work of the Nuns

The nuns of Panagia Trikoukkiotissa, with humility, unceasing prayer and love, serve the Church and the people of God. Their daily program includes Services, Divine Liturgy, vigils, as well as crafts such as beeswax, jams, sweets, rose water and other preparations. At the same time, the spirit of hospitality and love for one's neighbor is cultivated.

The Monastery functions as a spiritual center, where visitors can confess, seek guidance, find peace, or participate in liturgical gatherings. Pilgrims are welcomed with warmth and respect, following the Patristic tradition of love.
